A fun-packed week of activities kept pupils entertained at Newminster Middle School, Morpeth.
The Year 6 pupils were treated to trips to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Housesteads Roman Fort in a series of sessions run by students from Northumbria University.
The outings were followed by a Junior Apprentice-style task in which the youngsters put forward and developed ideas to raise Newbiggin's profile. Parents saw the results of their efforts in assemblies.

Following consultations carried out last year, the county council has designed a regeneration scheme for the centre of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
Bridge Street, known locally as the Quay Wall, will become a focal point for the community, capable of hosting a variety of events and activities.

And she was able to realise them after discovering a rundown cafe premises on the Barrington Industrial Estate in Bedlington with help from her joiner husband Michael and advice from Go Wansbeck Enterprise Coaches.
Thousands of people across Northumberland are about to be asked for their views on whether the county's controversial two-tier system of car parking charges should be abolished.
A major public consultation will be launched soon as part of a wide-ranging review which will help unitary council chiefs decide whether or not to scrap the tradition of free parking in the south east of the county.
Shopkeepers and businesses in rural communities such as Berwick, Seahouses, Alnwick, Morpeth and Hexham say it is unfair that motorists have to pay up to ã1.10 an hour - while they can park free in towns such as Blyth, Cramlington, Ashington and Bedlington.
Community Wildlife is for projects that help people discover, enjoy and protect wildlife in their local area.
Now open to organisations including voluntary and community organisations, schools, town and parish councils, and statutory health authorities. Grants of between ã300 and ã10,000 are available.
There is up to ã2 million available across the UK and organisations can submit applications before the three deadlines of 21July, 22 September and the 24 November 2010.

Newbiggin will play host to a weekend of endurance events next month.
The Newbiggin Sea Swim event will be held on Friday, July 23, followed by a triathlon in the seaside town the following day for the Couple Challenge.
Volunteers are wanted to help over the weekend.
The Newbiggin Bay Sprint Triathlon also returns later in the year, on the 12th September.
